Notice to all Alumnae of Immaculata

This letter was received yesterday:

Dear Immaculata Alumnae,

Tenley Historical Society is gathering information on Immaculata/Dunblane.  We are beginning to draft a nomination to the DC Inventory of Historic Sites for Immaculata.  A nomination for Dunblane (the stucco house behind Immaculata that was home to the elementary school,) focusing more on its 19th century history as a country estate, has already been submitted.

In addition, we are looking for information and photographs for our website, www.tenleytownhistoricalsociety.org and for the Tenleytown Heritage Trail which is in the planning stage.  THS is working with Tenleytown Neighbors Association and DC Cultural Tourism on the Trail.

We hope you will share your reminiscenes, excerpts of which we may include on our website and/or on Heritage Trail signs.

You can mail to Tenleytown Historical Society, 5332 42nd Street, NW, Washington, DC 20015 or email us at tenleytownhistoricalsociety@yahoo.  If you can scan your photos, those can be mailed as well.  If you have photos to share, but can't scan them, we would love to borrow them and will return them to you promptly.

Thank you so much for your help in preserving the history of one of Tenleytown's historic institutuions.

                              SISTERS OF PROVIDENCE.
                                VOCATION DISCERNMENT WEEKENDS

Join the Sisters of Providence of Saint Mary-of-the-Woods as we explore what it means to follow God's call by addressing the following questions:

* How does ministry as a lay woman differ from ministry as a woman religious?

* In what ways can vowed life as a woman religious be an answer to Christ's call to "Come follow me?"

*What is it like living in community, and in what ways would this support me in my desire to serve God?

We invite you to join us and other women ages 18-42 in exploring this path through a weekend of reflection, prayer, and discovery amidst the spring beauty of these Woods. There is no charge for the weekend.  Housing and meals will be provided.
